With a debilitating injury to my husband 2 years ago, I am left as the sole breadwinner for our family of 5. With medical needs, countless hospital bills and a full household, including 1 young daughter and 2 teenage girls, the financial burden has been quite overwhelming. To make things more difficult, my girls lost their grandmother this year and it has been a heartwrenching, challening time for them. Nana was a caretaker, [free] babysitter, friend and confidante for our girls and watching them grieve has been so heart wrenching; especially while they face the added burden of having to scrimp and save on many of the basics most kids take for granted. It is so hard to watch our daughters come home in tears because someone laughed that they had to use generic deodorate in gym class. My husband and I hate asking for help, but we are determined to give our girls a better Christmas than they are expecting, being aware how tight finances are this year. We spent our last expendable income creating a memorial for their Nana that they will never forget, but now have literally nothing left and a Top Ramen budget through the end of the month. This time has been so challening for them and we want our girls to be able to enjoy this Holiday Season seeing presents under the tree and not worrying about adult problems. Therefore, we decided to swallow our pride and ask for help giving our girls a Christmas to remember and a realization of the love others have in their hearts. What a gift, to give them a carefree and bounteous holiday! Thank you for considering my request. I truly appreciate anything you can provide and promise that we will pay it forward in the future.
